Anyone mounted a winch on the Talon 1000R 4 LiveValve using the OEM bumper or did you have to purchase an after markedt bumper? Purchased a honda winch mounting plate but it appears the winch will be sitting to low causing the rope to hit the top of the lower bumper.
Would like to keep the winch spooling from the bottom but it seems alot on the new Talons may spool from the top.
Appreciate your suggestions.

There are some mounts that will work with the stock bumper but....... You will probably want a heavier duty bumper. The nicest one that I have found is the one from Bosman Designs. They are kind of pricy but you get what you pay for...just sayn. Also they take awhile to ship so there is that.

This is the mount I have using the stock bumper and Badlands 5500 long drum winch.

eBay…. $60 bucks, Rough Country mount:

Heavy duty item…. I kept the winch line coming out of my Super ATV, Black Ops 6000lb winch by simply flipping the winch upside down. Line comes out perfectly centered. Plate goes across the top of the factory bumper where the fairlead mounts. Your winch could care less about gravity, so will work the same either direction on mounting. Plate bolts to frame bulkhead. I can’t put a larger bumper on the front of my Talon or I’d never get it in my 5th wheel garage. So there are options out there.

By the way…my Talon was built October 2023. So it’s the newer 2023 1000R model. Plate should fit your 2024 1000R-4. Black Ops 6000 is a wide spool. Fit fine.

Put a Rough Country mount on my 22' model. We fabricated another plate by welding it on the RC and added gussetts for support. Had to use a 3500lb winch to make it fit. Good solid fit to the frame.

Have used my winch set up numerous times now. Actually went out yesterday. Stuck in snow… pulled off my buddy’s RZR to get my self out. And again had to use it to pull him out! I had a 3500lb winch before on my last SxS and it struggled when rig was buried in the snow. This Black Ops 6000 pulled me forward and up out of the hole I buried my self in like it was Nut’n!

Trust me… I had it off and saw it for myself. I never said it was beefy. I just said I had to use it since I can’t use an aftermarket bumper due to fitment issues in my 5th wheel garage. I have to put the stock bumper through the door that goes into the living area of the trailer for my Talon to work in what I have. I literally have an inch of clearance both front and rear that way. I have to dismount my 32” tires and mount the stockers to fit also. Thankfully I do most trips on day runs with a cargo trailer, no issues there. The 5 or 6 trips a year using the 5th wheel makes it no big deal for me. BUT using the stock bumper with the Rough Country set up works fine. Been pulled out and pulled out my buddies RZR’s numerous times using the winch set up that does use the stock bumper. The brace provided by Rough Country helps strengthen it all. To each their own, just here to provide information that does and will work, never said it’s the “only way.” Starting message did ask if it was possible to use the stock set up. And, as I answered, it’s possible.

Best wishes, Moto
