nm6r- that is the nicest install I've seen! Very well done and I hope you don't mind if I do a similar thing. Quick question, with your KWT particle separator, do you have any issue with the lid hitting the flex hose? I have the same setup on my Honda. Where did you order the box? I haven't been able to find it at the price you paid.

I installed the ultimate Talon cargo box.
Looks great, durable, weather sealed, easy in/out, no ugly straps, $125.

I made a mounting plate for it.
It connects to the bed frame with 8 spacers and 8 longer bolts.

The cargo box mounts to the plate with four 1/4-20 knobs.

Sorry for the late reply. I just got in last night from being off the grid for 10 days riding the Talon and fishing. The box worked great and no dust or rain got in.

The lid opens without hitting the flex hose on the particle separator. I did have to remove the flag mount on the cage of my 1000R. I understand that is not necessary on a 1000X-4.

I ordered my box from Cycle Gear. I had a $20 off coupon and the guy at Cycle Gear gave me an additional 10% off.

I just joined the Forum. I have a '20 X4 Fox Live Valve. I've been looking around quite a bit for a storage box for both food and tools, etc. Your solution looks great.
Two questions; Does the box sit down inside the bed mold? I know its on the aluminum plate, but does it fit inside the outside edge? Second, if I see the pics correctly, you bolted down the plate with 4 bolts and then the box with an additional 4 bolts from inside the box. Is that correct?

Thanks!

It was based on this very thread started by nm6r that I also purchased this box. I am extremely happy with it. I did not make a plate to mount. I just set it in and mounted it right through the floor of the bed. Used rubber washers and a small drop of RTV as I installed the bolts. I pushed it back a little and I did not need to cut the antenna mounting tab on the right side. I also wanted to be able to fit a Super ATV bed extender. So I had to go back a little. I have had the box in snow, mud, water, everything with no issues. Something else to mention..... the box is made with a curve in the back of it. This makes it really easy to service the air filter or oil fill without having to remove the box.Thank you again nm6r for posting this find.

Appreciate the reply, I'd imagine that box doesn't get removed much and if it does it's simple to remove?

Also, any issues getting go the airbox with this setup? Guessing you have to remove the box all together. I'd like to get a waterproof box, but this method seems awfully clean!

Where did you purchase ultimate Talon cargo from? I went to the link attached but couldn't find anything. This is exactly what we are looking for.

I ended up going with Tractor Supply cargo box and I bolted it down to the bed. She's dirty in the pic, but you get the idea. I also ended up mounting my roto pax 2 gallon tank on top. I put about 50 mile on it so far zero issues, 25 mile with the rotopax mounted. So far smooth sailing!

I just got a Sterilite black cargo box for my 2021 Talon R and it fits perfect. The purchase was made on Amazon part number 18429001 for 47.00. Measurements are 31.25 x 17.63 x 13.88 This box is almost the exact copy of the Tractor Supply. It fits Great, sturdy, good construction. They sold over 8,000 of them and the rating was 4.6 out of a 1-5 rating. This will do the job and save you a few dollars. Highly recommend this product. They call it a foot locker.

What was the process to bolt this directly to the bed? I don't have the ability to fabricate a plate like Nm6r did.. Assuming you had to get under the bed somehow to attach bolts? Do you have pics of those?
I made a plate for mine like NM6r did but didn't use thumb screws, I used round head bolts. If you don't want to make a plate you could remove the bolts in the bed, set the box where you want it, then using a straight pick go up from underneath through the bolt holes and poke the box where you need to drill.

Slight spin on the Tractor Supply storage box. We don’t have a TS up here in this part of Montana, so got the same box, minus the TS emblem from Murdoch’s.

Instead of straps, used 1/8” thick aluminum spacers then 3/4” thick plastic spacers to conform to the bed, and replaced the outside 4 bed hold-down bolts with 50mm (2”) 12.9 bolts. Is very sturdy, still can use original D-rings, can access air filter without removing box, and is no conflict with KWT, DRF bumper, or 3 gallon Rotopax.

Nice work TOGR. Yes, MT is limited in shopping options. I went a different route, too. I choose a slim aluminum box with a built in lock for security. 32x12x5.5 Lund 288272 ATV "front box" I don't have the bandwidth to cut out a plate. Instead I used the existing four bolt holes, with the existing tiedown rings in place. I used a wooden BBQ skewer with white paint, from underneath the bed, to mark the drill spots on the box. The gap between the bed indents, and the box bottom, are filled with washers (including rubber ones to cinch against). The slim profile leaves me space for chairs, wood, "barley-pops", etc... I fill the box with the essentials: Noco jump start kit (I love this thing. I've already used it to rescue other drivers), tire inflator, pull straps, recovery rings, first aid kit, and other emergency supplies. I do plan to add some screw on tie down rings for more flexibility.

Hi there, Thanks for your info on this box, I was able to contact a human At JEGS after automatic msgs said it was unavailable. He called Lund and said they had two in Indiana - shipped one to me within the week with a discount! You're right, it fits perfect in my '19 X, love the low profile and ability to lock it. Now to decide if I want to attach it yet still remove if needed.....

I have a MacDermid Design box I bought for my Talon last year, I love it. It does have room on each side for stuffing a folding chair on each side. I am running 32” tires and it doesn’t come near the 10-80 pre-filter. Plus a have a glass rear window and there’s room there also.. The box does have two pneumatic lift cylinders, even with the heavy 32” wheels it lifts all by itself with no effort. This is a beautiful hand made cargo box that is extremely quality built. MacDermid Design is a family owned business, when you call you will be talking to one of the family members. Plus it’s made in the USA, Phoenix AZ.

I have had mine a year now and I would buy it again.
