I put a new front diff in all the electrical connections are in the right spot, but it is stuck in 4wd. The weird part though Is 4wd won't work at all in reverse

Break out a volt meter and check the current running to the plugs. Check to see if there is a voltage difference at the plug connector switched on then switched off.

If you don't have any 12 volt power to the connector when it is switched off, then the issue may lie in the differential itself.
