I am the new owner of a Honda 1000 talon r.
just took delivery last night 12/12/2019, took it out on it’s maiden voyage today. Noticed 2 WD symbol showing locked rear dif very hard to steer, this can’t be normal? Righthow do you get it to unlock

Rear is always locked, so there is no choice on that. 2 or 4wd is your options. Even in 4 wheel drive the steering should be fairly easy.

Is the scrub on the front or rear wheels. The front should not, with the solid rear you always have some scrub on tight turns.

What code 54 said....the rear is actually a spool differential, so there is no unlocking it. I find mine will scrub up the grass on tight turns too, but its the nature of the beast.

I keep my Talon in an under house garage that requires a full lock left hand turn when pulling it around to the front of the house. The inside rear tire is like a rototiller on the grass. Wife approval factor is very very low at that point!!?

Yep - any "solid" rear axle machine will do that. If you don't want that to happen you need something like a Mule FXT with a rear that can be unlocked so the wheels turn at different speeds. Talons will always be "locked" and tear up the grass in the turns. Just how that machine and most sport machines are built.
