Just installed the KWT pre-filter on my 2020 Talon R. I ran this system on my Polaris RZR 1000, it works great. I ride in dusty desert conditions. This keeps a tremendous amount of dust away from your filter giving you more life on the filter.

You can mount this unit high (the roof probably in the cleanest air) or low where I mounted mine due to where my chase light is mounted on the 2" bar.

The best part, it doesn't require electricity! No moving parts or noisy fan. Easy installation whether you do it yourself or have a shop install it.

The factory setup, as mentioned in these forums, sucks dirty air in kicked up from the rear wheel, this moves the intake up into cleaner air, and pre-filters it with aerospace engineering of cyclonic action, spinning off the dirt particles letting flesh cleaner air to the filter plenum. This means longer life for your air filter and your machine!

Glad I installed this. My first ride was extremely dusty. I dumped the sight glass twice on the ride. Completely filled at the first break. Without this I think my filter would have been totally caked. Powdery dust, strong tail wind and I had my windshield closed.

I made up a system for my 2011 RZR 800s using the pre filter from a Cat Grader, got it on line for 24 bucks, (whole system was about 60 dollars), anyway the system reduced the dust in my air filter by at least 95%. Every service that I do at 50 hrs there is very little dust in the filter, you can blow dust out of the filter but tapping it on the ground none falls out. I pick up my new Talon on Thursday and will be making a system for it too.

How noisy is this prefilter?
Hi Backfar, it doesn’t make any noise at all, there is no fan or moving parts in the KWT pre-filter. I haven’t noticed any difference in engine/intake sound by this modification.

I like the sound of the Talon, reminds me of a Honda 500R bike I had many moons ago. I find it way quieter than the Polaris 1000 it replaced.

Thanks for the replys, i was concerned with the air intake noise and hearing this news im placing an order.
To make sure I just went out and had the wife rev it up 3000-5000rpm. I stood on driver side then put my ears right up to intake of KWT. I couldn’t hear any difference. Just hear the engine and exhaust.

Also, moved my KWT up and facing to the passenger side. The only reason I didn’t mount mine to the top roll bar is because it would block my chase light. The roof has the cleanest air, but I drive where branches and cactus regularly scrape over the roof.
The airflow of the Talon creates a low pressure that swirls dust back in from the rear. Not too bad with half or no windshield. Really bad with full or flip up windshield closed. Honda put air scoops on the rear of the roof and they help, but need more aggressive scoops in my opinion. So mounting the KWT higher, facing forward where that scoop blows on it is optimal.
Here are photos of my KWT and arrows to where I would put it if I didn’t have the chase lights. Also a photo of another guy who I got the idea from, he has a rear window and had to use side mount.

You’ll get no argument from me that the Talon definitely needs a better designed intake setup, but dang, can no one design something beside a big hideous box like this? I have no doubt it works well, but esthetically the box and hose are pretty bad.
