Hello to all in this group. I'm a new Talon owner (just purchased in January 2022) but not new to Honda off-road vehicles. Starting in 1986 I've had a TRX 250R (regrets on selling that), an XR 500, XR400, & XR650 dirt bikes. Also, two Sportrax 400EX quads and a 250EX quad. All the kids are grown and gone so it was time to try something different and that is why I bought the Talon. I was attracted to the Honda name for quality and the direct drive transmission. I'm hoping to get some good technical tips/tricks from this forum. The model I have is SXS1000-4X.
So far I have taken the Talon out for two one day trips to Ocotillo Wells (So. Cal) for the break-in period. I like all the features available like the automatic shifting vs the manual paddle shifting. My only complaint so far is the suspension seems a little stiff and unforgiving. Those of you familiar with Ocotillo know that some washes are pretty smooth but others are washboarded and rocky. I tried the different settings on the compression but it still seemed like a rough ride. Any thoughts??
My next trip is going to be in the San Bernardino Mountains near Lake Arrowhead (Pinnacles) and hope the terrain is a little smoother.
Enjoy the Ride.
