Polaris owner, but I'm really interested in the Talon. Was disappointed that the Pioneer wasn't a sport model. I'm a bit concerned about the DCT clutches, even with the low range. We do a lot of slow speed mountain trails and crawling and I remember the Pioneer had some initial problems with the clutches. Can't wait to read some trail riding reviews.

Welcome to the forum Dwight. The Talon is looking like an excellent addition to Honda's UTV lineup and all of the first impressions have been extremely positive thus far. Looking to replace the Pioneer or add to the stable?
Glad to have a new member on the forum.
Are you by any chance looking into any accessories and/or modifications as yet for your Talon?
I'll wait to make a decision until I can read real test rides. Accessories would be basic, windshield, mirrors, winch, maybe some storage bags, spare belt, (oh wait, guess I wouldn't need one of those). My only real concerns are gearing in low range, and clutch reliability. The fact that it comes with a clutch temperature gauge doesn't give me that warm fuzzy feeling.

I have seen some concern relating to gearing and clutch reliability. Wish i had more technical knowledge about them but hopefully as this community grows we'll get more mechanically inclined members to drop knowledge on what to expect... unless you're one them.
Doubt that I'd be considered an expert :) I have been riding sxs's since 2008(800rzr)and have always wanted to be able to shift between hi and low range on the fly. I thought Yamaha, with the paddle shifting, would be the answer but for my riding (mostly slow mountain trails and crawling) it doesn't work well. The Pioneer with the DCT looked to be the answer. I was disappointed that it wasn't a sport version and the boss lady thought it was seriously ugly! I understand how the DCT works and when I saw that Honda had provided the Talon with a low range I thought I'd finally found the right sxs for me. With 50+ mph in low range very seldom would I ever be in high range. That would actually be ok with me. However if we look back to the Pioneer and their clutch problems I can't help but believe that we will see the same result in the Talon. Please remember I'm talking about my riding needs. Maybe it isn't going to be a problem, it will take more riding reviews to see. I really like the Talon, just gonna have to wait and see.

Hey Dwight, glad to have another sxs enthusiast on board. Honda was pretty quick in addressing those issues with the DCT on the Pioneer, so I am sure that they have made the necessary improvements related to the clutch on the Talon. Fingers crossed anyways.
