2018 I bought a Maverick 1000r XC dps. I found out a few months later that was the last release of that model. I loved it for the first few months. This being my first SXS, I had some real and some unreal expectations. I compared the Maverick and the RzR to a extent I was exhausted of looking at them both. The story of the Maverick is a tale about a young boy (me) and his first SxS. The love, the thrill, the hate, the disappointment. At first I loved her, she accelerated fast, felt good on the trail, had more power than I could ever imagine. With a few accessories, she was dressed up real nice. We played hard together, we lovingly abused each other. We ask each other to do things we were unsure of. Every time i was with her, it was like sleeping double in a single bed. Through the week she was on my mind, I would find myself through the week, starring at pictures of her from the past weekend. Then one fatal day about 6 months into it what I thought was going to last forever, it started. At first it was brakes. No big deal i said, I am in the mud a lot, its expected. the it became new brakes almost every ride. I changed out the disc to solid to hope to slow down the issue. I bought better pads, I changed my driving style.. no avail. Then it was " whats that clicking / clunking sound" front axle... how could this be.... New front axles, I thought ok, she is good to go.... We decided HMT ( Hatfield & McCoy) was the next step in our relationship. Who knew she would want a new belt in the middle of the ride. During the Tow she showed she was unhappy whit a front brake failure while being towed out that cost me a new caliper and almost a trip to the hospital. I was still in love and blind.. new belt new caliper... we are ready to continue out journey together. Back to HMT.. this time it would be different... All the PM compete, she was in the best shape of her life, since the first day we met... Day 02 @ HMT.... She changed with the outcome of a broken radiator fan motor..... I was in shock.. I was devastated.... I was embarrassed again for the second time for myself and a machine i was sure I loved...
I took her home, as any good owner would, I gave her a new radiator fan without question... but I knew I was a changed man... the machine i once loved, I no longer looked at the same way. I ask myself after all I have done and given you and ask so little in return.. how could it be like this. I knew to start out of good footing, I gave her some things to show i cared. 4500lb Super Winch, Dragon Fire doors, Rock Sliders, EMP roof, EMP 1/2 windshield, Front and rear custom bumpers... The finest oils and filters. I was sure this was the foundation for a long term relationship..... Finally in July 2019.. I knew it was over... I didn't want to be with her on the weekends, I stopped talking to my friends about being with her on the weekends, I looked away when I walked past her in the garage.... 7/14/19 I put her on the trailer for the last time, I knew what had to be done.....

I met something new....... My roller coaster love affair has started new with a Talon X..... My hopes are high for a long term relationship......

Lol.
Good luck with your new mistress.
Just make sure her fan is wired up correctly.
Be gentle with her spindles. Don't want to break her ankles.
Check her air filter often.
Just remember she isn't perfect. None of them are.
But odds are she will serve you well..

You had bad luck with your Mav. Knock on wood I have a 14 XRS DPS with close to 4000 miles and only had to put a couple cv boots on her. Have had it to HMT 3 times, never been pulled in. Have had the recall's done on her.

Hope to have a green Talon R by May. Planning to head back to HMT in May. Have bled Honda red since 1980. 4 250rs, 2 450Rs, 3 CR250s, 2 CR125s. 1 CR80 Elsinore. I have strayed from the Big Red machine a few times but always came crawling back. Have a Suzuki LTR450R, tranny let loose, now she has a Gen 1 450R power plant and as many Honda bolts I can get in her chassis.

Ha ha!! Isn’t that how it so often goes!! I’ve had nothing but great experiences with my previous RZRs, but the little 900 Trail that I bought last year is kinda like the fat girl you dated in high school... lots of fun, but you don’t want your friends to see you with her!!

The 50” wide RZR Trail has been a great companion, and done everything I’ve asked of her, and asked nothing but a sip of fuel in return, yet every time I pull up to a group of 1000 XPs, Turbo Ss, XR3s, etc., I park away from the wide flanked, broad shouldered machines and hope they didn't see me get out!

So, still not wanting or needing 200 hp, I bought a Talon 1000X in sexy Blue/Grey that I’ll be proud to park up front and center!
Sorry RZR, your a good friend, and will be called upon for those forest trails where branches will scratch your flanks, and scar your paint, but if people are watching.... you’ll be left in the dark garage to dream of days gone bye!!
