I have 35" inseam and I ride with a prosthetic left leg. I really want a Talon. Has anyone cut out the dead pedal or otherwise modified one for more leg room?

I have raised my Drivers seat 2" and back a little. That helped with leg room & also raised line of sight when looking thru Superatv Flip Windshield. I used 1.5" x 2" x 1/8" Aluminum Tubing

Thanks. That helps. I need to go take a closer look. I wanted one until I sat in it...

36" inseam here too. I raised my driver seat 1.25 inches and moved it back 1.25 inches and it made a big difference. Modifying the dead pedal would entail pushing it out into the wheel well. I think it would work on an R to an extent but probably limit the tire size due to clearance issue when turning left. Probably not work on an X, the tire is already a few inches further back and moving the dead pedal would decrease that clearance (inch for inch because the top of the dead pedal is flush with this inside of the wheel well)...

R Clearance. The short arrows show what would happen if you pushed the dead pedal out...

And the X is a little closer to begin with so not much to play with...

My main issue is the prosthetic is bent at a 90* angle and the silicone liner and the sleeve that rolls up my leg and over the knee almost to my crotch to hold the leg on also put pressure on my kneecap. The kneecap eventually becomes a "hot spot" and I have to take it off. In my car I have room to extend my leg to the right of the dead pedal and straighten it out a bit to relieve some of the pressure. If I could move the brake pedal to the right a bit and allow me to stretch my leg out and not use the dead pedal, it would work better. The only ones that give me room to not use the dead pedal that I have found are a couple of current Can Ams and I would rather buy the Honda.
Thank you for your thoughts and illustration. Could you post pics of how you modded the seat?

One way to compensate for the extension would be to install the forward A-Arms from Super ATV they push forward 1.5 inches, I used them to install larger tires on my Talon 1000x and they worked just fine. Standard Tire is 28" and the picture above is with a 35" tire so you can see it did improve the clearance quite a bit. Hope this helps.

Hi guys, Just bought a Talon x1000-4 and I'm 6'3 and all legs. Hope this may help a few people. I'm a Huge Jeep guy and I always installed risers on them. So I thought what the hell give it a try. The Bolts even Matched up... And makes it easier for me to drive.. Will probably make a extension to get it back a inch or so also , but these were a 5 min project.. 1.5w x 2" high tubing 3" longer than bolt spacing - i can't get to it right now so I don't remember on the bolting for sure, but think I cut tubing ends at angle so I could reach bolts on bottom (bolt the tubing down, the angle helps clear rear wall too) then I tapped the upper holes, screwed bolts from inside out & tack welded the heads inside the tubing so when mounted / remove seat it would be just a nut & washer with single wrench. Once done, I took tubing and had powder coated black.

I love my Honda but not lot room in it for bigger guys. I honestly could use more myself. The Kawasaki krx is huge tho set in friends over day. Glade I hadn’t looked at them first cause I’d sure hated to bought anything but Honda but room sure is nice.

I just got done installing these rises on my x4. Installation was easy and the bolts that come in the kit are the same as the factory ones. The kit comes with 6 blocks that have a smaller bolt hole and 2 that come with a larger bolt hole. My 5'7" wife also likes the added seat height.

Your sight lines do get raised up. I have the SuperATV glass windshield with vents on the bottom. I can still see fine even with the black frame on top of the glass that is below the top rollbar. I am 6'2" and don't have a problem. If your worried, try the 1 1/2" blocks first.
