There are a couple of key areas where the two models of the Talon differ, but one of the most immediate is the difference in width between them. The 1000R sits are 68.4" while the 1000X sits at just 64". Keep this in mind when deciding which is ideal for trails in your area.

The rear suspension setup is also quite different between the two. The X has the more traditional 3 link trailer arm style, while the R is using what Honda is calling its 4-plus suspension.

You'd have to have a fair bit of familiarity with Sport sxs's to really notice the difference imo. I do feel like the handling will be more precise in the slimmer X.
Yes, on paper and of course physics agrees with that. Someone stretching these out on high speed runs consecutively can tell the differences. Part of that will come with also being familiar with nuances of the trail/terrain.
