I use Garmin and there are maps for many of the state parks and gps works well. Many different optional maps and one version comes with them all installed.

I use Avenza on my phone that uses GPS even when you dont have Cell signal. Allows me to mark trails I like as well up in the Black Hills area of South Dakota. I dont know if they have maps elsewhere though.

I have the Garmin 680t. Its great for marking your camp site and you can set it to leave bread crumbs to mark your trail. I bought the street map for it also so if I take it on the road, I can use it like a regular GPS. Great for hiking too. Check it out online. Maybe cheaper on Amazon.

check out Magellan TRX7 (waterproof version). Pricey and little clunky cause android based, but has bunch of preloaded maps plus can do back track to get back to camp when lost
