So I filled up the tank, and squeezed as much as I could get in it onaconna we have a very long ride coming up. Now, my garage stinks like gas. No sign of fuel dripping, just fumes.
Did I screw something up by maybe overfilling?

The owners manual tells you to stop adding fuel when the fuel reaches the bottom of the filler neck insert for a reason. You just discovered the reason.

Raw fuel sloshed out the vent and into the frame. It will dissipate over time.

Thank you sir, I was worried maybe It got into the evap system or something .

Someone on here said unless you have a California version there is no evap system.

I have found by removing the filler insert that I can easily fit more fuel in the tank. It's just easy to overfill like the OP found. A little care and you can fit more fuel (easily) without overfilling.

Well, after a week of the smell, I decided to try something. I started her up, let it idle for 10 minutes, and no more smell. Not sure why, but happy..

The smell goes away pretty quick by running the machine when I overfilled mine, before & after removing the filler insert.

Thanks to all for the information. Now, due to weather, we are going to take a much shorter ride....All that for nothing
