1st weekend on WI trails

Trails in WI finally opened this weekend. First opportunity to really put my new X4 live value though it’s paces. Great experience with the trans driving mostly in sport mode. Handle great in both suspension modes. I unfortunately punctured a tire most likely by a rock, plug kit and 12v compressor and back under way again. The biggest disappointment is the left front diff seal leaking again. This will be the 3rd time😡, can’t make it more than 100 miles! I sure the dealer will fix it under warranty again. I think I need to push the conversation up to Honda. Otherwise I really like the machine.

With your diff seal continuing to leak you may want to check where the vent tube goes into your frame. Some have noticed that there was an excessive amount of glue used to put the fitting in and the hole was plugged. With no venting on the front diff it will start to push out through your seals. Might want to check and see if that is your problem.

So I pulled the diff vent tube off the top of the diff a blew the line out with a compressor prior to the weekend and seems to have stopped leaking. Dealer is still putting a new seal in, Honda has a new part number seal and is aware there has been issues.
Thanks again for the advice!

Hi - even with the vent line clear on the front diff - left front diff seal started to leak over the weekend.

Front diff was also whining when in i4wd / is this normal?

How does the Talon handle the washboard? Was in Millston this weekend on my Pioneer 1000-5 and we were all getting beat up from it.
Don’t even feel the washboards. This thing rides like a dream. Too bad they put sh!t tires on it. I also blew out a tire. 300 miles on it and tires can’t take a rock? This was a gash about 1”. Plugs didn’t work, had to stop our ride and buy a new Maxxis POS tire from a Honda dealer to continue our riding. I’ve been riding for over 25 years and I’ve only lost blew two tires. Maxxis Bighorns on Talon and Commander. These companies cheapen out on brakes and tires to save a few bucks. Buy American tires!!

Wow I work in black River falls so millstone is 12 miles from there. If you ever want to ride let me know. I live in chippewa falls.
Hayward rocks!!! We are heading back out Labor Day weekend if all goes as planned. We went last weekend and had a blast! We just got our X4 Live Valve and absolutely LOVE the machine and everything about it. I think the tires are just fine for trails and I’ll change them later to all the same size for convenience and a little more ride height.
